Curating Juri: Natura Musical 2019

Natura Musical is one of the most important grant programs in the Brazilian music industry today, awarding annually approximately R$5 million (about U$1.2M) to a diverse scope of musical projects, including new albums, EPs, vinyls, concerts, tours, video clips, in addition to research, webisodes, podcasts, documentaries, exhibitions, artistic residencies, exchanges, workshops and conferences.

I was honored to serve as one of the curators for the Natura Musical 2019 program. The 41 awarded projects were selected from 2,647 applications, curated by 22 professionals in the music industry, in a two-month process. Natura Musical will offer a total of R$ 5.4 million in sponsorship for these projects. The program is supported by laws to encourage national culture in Bahia, Minas Gerais, Pará and Rio Grande do Sul. See below all the selected projects:
